Sony Ericsson has announced it has become a member of the Open Handset Alliance, a consortium led by Google dedicated to open standards on mobile evices. The company will develop handsets based on the Android platform in the future, leveraging the new user experience with its powerful Walkman and Cybershot lines.
The company currently offers handsets based on the now-discontinued Symbian UIQ and has also recently launched a Windows Mobile device.
